Reporting to the Corporate Controller, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive financial reporting support to the organization.  This includes significant involvement in monthly processes including preparation of financial statements, forecasts, and analysis.  You will meet regularly with your business partners to discuss significant variances, assist in the preparation of financial forecasts and annual budgets. In addition, you will work closely with the Corporate Controller to create analysis of financial results and administer new businesses secured by the organization.  Working with our external partners will be a key responsibility you will carry for year-end audits.

 

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • preparing journal entries to account for the organization’s activities;
  • maintaining the organization’s general ledger, accounts and expenditures including bank reconciliations, various balance sheet reconciliation schedules and expense analysis and reallocations;
  • producing monthly program financial statements for the organization to meet reporting deadlines;
  • assisting in administration of various contracts both internally, as well as invoicing various government partners;
  • intercompany reconciliation and invoicing to various operating companies;
  • preparing financial budget and analytical reports and provide analysis where appropriate; 
  • designing and implement new reports as needed;
  • assisting in the organization’s annual budget process;
  • assisting in the consolidation of operating company’s monthly results; 
  • comparing actual results to budgets and prior periods and review with key stakeholders;
  • financial costing for new programs
  • assisting in tax compliance including compilation of T4A
  • investigating possible errors and reallocate transactions as required; and
  • financial projects and other duties as assigned.


As the ideal candidate for this role, you:

  • possess a post-secondary education in business with a concentration in accounting or relevant experience;
  • have a minimum of three years’ experience working in an accounting department dealing with financial reporting and accounting;
  • have experience with month end closing activities
  • have experience with financial costing  
  • must be proficient in spreadsheet preparation and be comfortable in a computerized accounting environment with experience with Great Plains Dynamics being considered an asset; 
  • are a detail oriented and self-motivated individual with strong organizational abilities with the ability to meet challenging deadlines and;
  • use a positive and creative approach to problem solving;
  • possess good communication skills.
