The opportunity: 
We’re seeking a forward thinking and energetic professional to build relationships, arrange strategic alliances, and lead the acquisition of new companies. As the Director of Corporate Development, you’ll report directly to the Vice President - Chief Financial and Risk Officer and be critical in the evaluation, development and implementation of various strategic initiatives. In order to succeed, you must have an entrepreneurial drive coupled with demonstrated fiscal diligence and subject matter expertise.


This position can be based remotely across Canada, or within our corporate offices in Moncton NB or Montreal QC.
Key Responsibilities: 

  • Evaluate and execute new acquisition/growth opportunities as well as develop and implement strategic alternatives important to the Senior Management Team (SMT), the Shareholders and the Board of Directors
  • Lead the development of detailed financial evaluations and models such as acquisition/merger, valuation, synergies, returns analysis, and various other ad hoc analyses
  • Lead the transaction execution process, including the coordination of internal working groups and external advisors, due diligence / documentation / closing, and post-merger integration
  • Develop various presentations to the SMT and the Board of Directors
  • Oversee industry research and develop sector, segment, and company deep dives to support company strategic objectives
  • Develop and maintain productive relationships across the organization, the Blue Cross Plans and with industry and professional networks. 


What you need to succeed:

  • Relevant experience in complex corporate environments; experience includes Corporate Development, Private Equity, or Advisory Services. Industries preferred include Insurance, Financial Institutions, or General Business within matrix model
  • Proven direct end-to-end acquisition execution experience is required
  • Excellent financial modeling and analytical skills
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with experience in interacting with senior level management
  • Detail oriented with ability to manage multiple high priority tasks
  • Demonstrable strong project management skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal


Education: BBA or BSc with either a recognized accounting designation (CPA), Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries (FCIA) or MBA.Language Skills:
