Summary


The Group Underwriting Best Practice Analyst’s main responsibility is to oversee all tasks related to financial statement system (FSS), with a strong emphasis on systems integration, processes, and tools. To succeed in this role, the analyst will need to develop deep understanding of the available resources and technologies used in Group Underwriting, both internally and externally, and coordination with IT, actuarial and finance department for continuous improvement.


Main Responsibilities:

 

  • Executes the monthly batch process and ensuring excellent service delivery to all users of the financial statement system.
  • Acts as a point of contact with internal partners (i.e., Group Underwriting, Finance, IT and Actuarial) to ensure that the financial statement system is accurate, reliable, and interoperable with other system. 
  • Analyses the group underwriting system, troubleshooting, and resolving issues with the financial statement system. Continuously reviews and evaluate the financial statement system to identify areas for improvement.
  • Maintains thorough documentation of the process and updates the documentation as necessary.
  • Supports Group Underwriting leadership team to align processes and tools (financial statement system and the execution of Group Underwriting Best Practice roadmap).


Required Qualifications:

 

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree with a focus in Business Administration, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Statistics, or related field.
  • Minimum of two (2) years in Group Underwriting experience including knowledge of financial statements
  • The Group Benefits Associate (GBA) designation would be an asset.


To be successful: 

 

  • You understand the group underwriting system, its components, and how it interacts with other systems. 
  • You are familiar with programming languages, databases, and software development methodologies. 
  • You have experience with system design and implementation, including requirements gathering, testing, and deployment.
  • You can communicate effectively with different stakeholders, including technical and non-technical staff. 
  • You are able to explain technical concepts in simple terms and tailor their communication style to different audiences.
  • You can work effectively in a team environment, collaborating with other analysts, developers, and stakeholders to achieve common goals. The analyst should be able to take constructive feedback and contribute to a positive team culture.
  • You are savvy in VBA (Excel) and PL/SQL, Power Apps.
  • Being bilingual (French and English) would be an asset.
