The Opportunity:

 

The Communications Advisor plays a vital role in supporting the department, clients, providers and plan members by providing clear, timely, transparent, and up-to-date information and communication regarding the New Brunswick (NB) Drug Plans, policies, procedures, and strategic objectives. This role contributes to the development and execution of all communications and special projects to advance priorities within the department and the NB Drug Plans, working collaboratively with the Government of New Brunswick. The ideal candidate has expertise in working within a team to create and finalize communications materials and messaging for various audiences and modalities.

 

In this role you can work out of our NB or NS offices in a Hybrid capacity or remotely throughout NB or NS.  You will be required to travel to Moncton, NB for internal meetings and quarterly/ad-hoc to Fredericton, NB for client meetings.  

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Achieve and maintain a comprehensive understanding of the NB Drug Plans, including policy development/management, business implementation of policy direction, client objectives, and communications needs.
  • Contribute to the creation and execution of communications strategies and tactics to support daily operations and strategic initiatives.
  • Provide input on all internal written communications supporting the NB Drug Plans, including training materials and other team-based materials.
  • Support in-person and/or all-hands sessions and needed communications within Medavie Blue Cross and externally in collaboration with the government customer .
  • Act as the final approval point for editing materials within and external facing on behalf of NB Drug Plans.
  • Coordinate policy development and updates with the client.
  • Oversee, write, and edit content for department and external communications, including emails, speaking remarks & scripts for employee events, presentations/materials for management meetings, website updates, announcements, key business updates, etc.
  • Manage communications processes and planning with the leadership team, including change management needs and involvement with larger projects or initiatives that result in substantial new materials or significant changes to current documents.
  • Distill complex information into digestible, engaging, informative pieces for employees (storytelling).
  • Modify writing tone and voice according to the audience.
  • Stay updated on innovations in communications practices, particularly new platforms/digital channels.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of change management theory and practice.

 

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of related experience, with experience with Government strongly preferred.
  • Exceptional written communication skills, including editing, proofreading, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle highly confidential and sensitive subjects/issues professionally.
  • Solid time management skills, with the ability to balance multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
  • Team player with a strong focus on supporting colleagues, trying new approaches, and delivering results.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills with an ability to work with multi-stakeholder teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-starter and problem-solver who works well independently and as part of a geographically dispersed, virtual team.
  • Understanding of best practices to communicate across a diverse, hybrid employee base.
  • Advanced skills with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Webex, and SharePoint.
  • Aptitude for technology.

 

Language Requirement: English is mandatory, Bilingual (English & French) is a strong asset
