The Opportunity:

 

Applications are being invited the position of Senior Operational Risk Analyst of Blue Cross Life Insurance Company of Canada. As a member of the Operational Risk Management team, you will play a significant role in monitoring and mitigating operational risks at Blue Cross Life. You will work closely with all functional areas of the Company as well as representatives from the distributor entites.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Continuous development of tools used to report operational risk information
    • Update and maintain access to Resolver (operational risk reporting system)
    • Revise and update operational risk policies and processes
  • Perform initial assessment for risk events reported through the Resolver system
  • Gather and analyze periodic operational risk information from all reporting parties
  • Help coordinate and facilitate operational risk workshops
  • Develop and execute assurance program in support of the Company’s three lines of defense model
  • Draft and update Operational Risk Dashboard for reporting to the Board of Directors
  • Interact with internal department leaders as well as risk representatives from distributor entities
  • Ensure communication of and adherence to reporting timelines

 

 

Qualifications:

 

Education:

  • University degree in business, finance or accounting
  • Completion of SOA/CAS exams would be considered an asset, ideally at an associate level or above
  • Completion of a professional accounting designation

 

Work Experience:

  • Previous experience in a risk or compliance role
  • Experience in insurance and/or banking
  • Experience in the development and execution of audits (internal and/or external)

 

Computer Skills:

  • Superior knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Knowledge of Governance, Risk and Compliance software is considered an asset

 

Language Skills:

  • Proficient in English
  • Bilingualism (French and English) will be considered an asset.
