Your every day with us:


As a Business Intelligence Specialist, you will gain an understanding of our Group, Individual and Government client business, including how they are structured and managed from a technical perspective.  You will interact with other key business areas such as Sales, Actuarial, Underwriting and IT just to name a few.  You will be working as part of an integrated team to provide Data Warehouse and Reporting solutions using a Microsoft Stack to manage client data and reporting needs.


This is purely a Business Intelligence / Data Warehouse Application Development team that can assist in your career objectives and work with you to leverage your capabilities and intuition.


As a Business Intelligence Analyst, your key responsibilities will include:


  • Analysis to gather business and system requirements
  • Translate business requirements into specifications that will be used to drive data store/data warehouse/ data mart design and configuration
  • Data preparation, data gateway and data warehousing projects.
  • Utilizing Microsoft Business Intelligence Stack through Power BI, SSAS, SSRS, SSIS.
  • Transition developed BI solutions to Business Stakeholders
  • Provide support as required to ensure the availability and performance of enterprise data
  • Power BI development and administration.
  • Connecting to data sources, importing data and transforming data for Business Intelligence.
  • Building Analysis Services reporting models.
  • Responsible for design methodology and project documentation.
  • Developing visual reports, dashboards and KPI scorecards using Power BI desktop.
  • Ensure proper configuration management and change controls are implemented for your sphere of influence
  • Provide technical assistance and cross training to other team members
  • Design and implement technology best practices, guidelines and repeatable processes
  • Must be able to perform duties with moderate to low supervision



 Required experience:


  • You need to hvae 8 years progressive Microsoft Development experience
  • Advanced knowledge and experience with ETL Data Integration with Microsoft SSIS
  • Advanced knowledge of SQL Server Reporting Services SSRS
  • Advanced knowledge and experience in Dimensional Modelling and Analytics with Microsoft SSAS
  • Experience with Oracle and Microsoft Database development.
  • Knowledge of Multidimensional Expressions (MDX) and Data Analysis Expressions (DAX)
  • SQL programming, Data Mining and Analytical functions.
  • Experience in DevOps tooling and processes


Nice to have


  • Experience with Lean Agile, DevOps, GIT Continuous Delivery Pipeline, and ITIL. 
  • Experience with Oracle PL/SQL
  • Experience in Change Management, Release Management, and Source Code control practices

  • You are a good communicator – you are a clear, concise and friendly but know how to communicate to different audiences such as clients, members and internal stakeholders.
  • You have earned a post-secondary diploma or degree and/or relevant working experience in business, technology or engineering
  • You are a problem-solving master, you are able to understand client requirements and have the ability to transform this into IT solutions.
  • You are detailed oriented person, you like the little details with the big picture in mind.
  • You have been successful in roles that involve either detailed analysis, quality assurance or systems management
  • This role could be a good fit for someone in an HRIS, engineering/process management or IT analyst career path
