Summary 

 

Program/Project Managers align business goals, manage teams, achieve milestones, and communicate results across a broad stakeholder audience. Build and develop project teams to ensure maximum performance, provide purpose, direction, and motivation to senior professional personnel, in support of the overall delivery. Develop a deep knowledge of our business and work with a diverse team of people to deliver programs and projects with varying levels of complexity and risk, on time, on budget, and on schedule. In parallel support the continuous evolution to mature our project management methodologies and business practices.

Security Clearance Requirement: In conjunction with our contract with the Federal Government, you will be required to have Reliability Status Clearance (Enhanced Level B) prior to your start date.  This includes; Fingerprinting, Criminal Record Check, Credit Check and you must have resided in Canada for at least 5 years and hold Permanent Resident or Citizenship Status.

 

Qualifications

 

Education: 

  • University degree
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, business, finance, business administration, or a related field. (Preferred) 

 

Experience:

  • Minimum 12 years experience of direct progressive program and project management. Managing customer and business facing IT initiatives of varying degrees of complexity, size, and risk. 

  • 5+ years of the cumulative experience, managing large complex/multi-year digital transformation program/projects across multiple functional teams.

 

Certification:

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) designation.

 

Knowledge and Skills: 

  • Full knowledge of Project Management Institute (PMI) standards and framework.
  • Expertise in Waterfall, Agile, and Hybrid project frameworks.
  • Strong working knowledge of tools used in project management (such as Microsoft Project, Visio, Office Suite, Jira, etc.)
  • Excellent organizational skills including attention to detail, critical thinking, problem solving, and multitasking skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize complex problems into issues that can be clearly communicated and resolved.
  • Excellent client facing, internal and external, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional influencing skills with an ability to engage at every level of the organization.
  • Proven success with stakeholder management, risk management, and change management, dealing with multiple leadership levels in a complex project environment.
  • Excellent understanding of program/project governance models for complex, multi-stream initiatives.
  • Collaborative leadership style.
  • Strong industry and business acumen.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Planning & Execution

  • Is accountable to lead and manage large, investment programs/projects in a formal project management environment throughout the program/project life cycle, delivering on time, on budget, and on schedule. While adhering to process and governance.
  • Defines the scope and objectives involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility.
  • Develops a charter and comprehensive project plans, including all project delivery artifacts (detailed schedule, cost plans, risk management, stakeholder management, etc.) to be shared with the project team and key stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Ensures adherence to existing project delivery and corporate processes and standards.
  • Manages resource plans/allocations in support of successful project delivery and execution.

 

Monitor and Control

  • Provides oversight and proactive analysis to track performance against objectives and KPIs, using appropriate project management tools and techniques.
  • Establishes, maintains, and governs changes to the scope, schedule, and costs, using effective project management methodologies and fiscal financial management process and practices.
  • Proactively manages risks, minimize impacts, and escalates issues.
  • Reports overall program/project health to multiple leadership levels.
  • Creates and maintains comprehensive program/project documentation.

 

Resource and Stakeholder Management

  • Understands how to maximize resources, manage expectations and communicate difficult or complex concepts. Works with others to “get the job done” by establishing & promoting effective working relationships with various stakeholders, including third parties, vendors and employees.
  • Adjusts communication style to address various audiences including senior leadership.

 

Innovation

  • Monitors and reports project status, issues, and risks. Executes lessons learned reviews and project retrospectives, to Identify areas for improvement within the team, IT, and the Business.
  • Investigates lessons learned from prior projects, shares perspectives with the larger team, IT, and Business, to apply learnings to new projects.
